Our Focus areas

SMARTFARM

Our Geotagging initiative has yielded successful results in mapping a multitude of farmers and fields, significantly enhancing traceability and endorsing sustainable practices. This reinforces our steadfast dedication to sustainability and contributes substantially to improved yields, effectively addressing food security concerns by enabling informed and targeted interventions.

MECHFARM

We strategically intervene and employ mechanization in farming and post-harvest management to improve yield by 30% and profitability. The integration of machines augments production and demonstrates economic efficiency by reducing costs, contributing to the economic upliftment of the farming communities.

EDUFARM

Our EDUFARM program empowers peanut farmers through comprehensive training & certification, fostering communities united in improving contract farming. The EDUFARM program imparts essential skills such as preparation for farm yard manure, integrated pest management, financial linkages, seed selection, gender considerations, community group development, and adherence to global GAP and fair trade practices.

PSP

We have forged strategic alliances with shellers to strengthen midstream farming connections. We aim to elevate food safety standards and significantly reduce waste by sharing process-know-how, technological support and globalisation of our partners.

HOPE

In our commitment to food security, we are pioneering sustainable solutions by introducing high-yielding, high-nutritious peanut varieties with extended shelf life. Our HOPE initiative has demonstrated impressive results, with a yield growth of 40%. This strategic approach fortifies food security and uplifts the livelihoods of our farming communities, aligning with our commitment to sustainable practices.

SMALLHOLDER FARMERS

We cultivate and organise farming communities to serve as exemplars, fostering efficient upstream subsidiaries. With a deep understanding of the peanut landscape, we manage several thousand hectares and smallholder farmers in a cooperative setup. Recognising the importance of smallholder farmers, we aim to uplift and empower them within the larger agricultural framework.

BioMass

Through innovative practices, we harness renewable energy by generating electricity from peanut husks and producing fertilizers from peanut ash to support local farmers.

WWF

We prioritise cultivating high-performing women through the WWF strategy encompassing recruitment, training, and upskilling for generalist and specialist roles. This approach underscores our commitment to sustainable practices, community development, and inclusivity, all in harmony with global gender equality objectives.

Our Global Call to Action

A symphony of sustainable actions, from the farm to the dinner table, is our endeavour, crafting a world where each peanut embodies our dedication to a flourishing planet.

Achieving considerate growth

Progress doesn’t have to come at any cost. We’re building a peanut industry that is sustainable and connected. Protecting industry stakeholders and stewarding a better marketplace wherever we’re involved.

For us, how we do business is as important as our products. That’s why we work with suppliers to drive up labour standards, environmental protections, and dignity in the workplace.

And we’re not stopping there.

Contract farming

We help our growers monitor and control the quality and productivity of their peanut crops. By collaborating with governments, non-government institutions, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), trusts, societies, and farmers, we integrate the value chain.

Our farmers benefit from:
  • Seed selection and the supply of certified sowing seeds
  • Soil and germination analysis
  • Fertiliser and pesticide management
  • Pre- and post-harvest critical control points
  • International best practice guidelines
  • Access to our premium processing and drying facilities

Highlights

Ending child labour
Ending child labour

As a responsible, ethically conscious company, no children under the age of 18 are employed – directly or indirectly – by Agrocrops. We demand the same throughout our production chain, and from all our business partners and suppliers. However, around the world millions of children are still forced to work in poor conditions. We stand against all forms of child exploitation, and are committed to a future in which they are freed from their suffering.

Seed breeding
Seed breeding

Our commitment to sustainability drives a focus on seed breeding to ensure the quality of our farmers’ seeds remains high. The seed industry is worth half a billion dollars in India alone, and our supply chain distribution strives to re-engineer the sector for improved peanut productivity. We work closely with ICRISAT, ICAR, and other government organizations to help farmers improve their yields.

Commercial farming
Commercial farming

Agrocrops also leases land for large-scale commercial and mechanised farming. Ranging from 100 to 500 acres, our captive farmland produces high peanut yields, following our refined quality practices. Supported by our expert agronomist team and the latest American farm-tech and cultivation practices, we continually work to improve productivity.

Community development
Community development

Our commitment to social responsibility is integral to our sustainability ethos. We offer complimentary education to the children of blue-collar workers, underscoring our dedication to community welfare. Moreover, 8% of our consumer product profits are invested in the development of peanut farmers, fortifying the agricultural backbone of our region. Our corporate social responsibility extends further, encompassing initiatives like food contributions and educational support for the less privileged.

Biodiversity
Biodiversity

From constructing our eco-friendly corporate office to minimizing packaging and reducing CO2 emissions, we remain steadfast in mitigating our environmental footprint. In Karnataka, we've planted 2,400 trees in our land bank to combat greenhouse gases, with plans for an additional 10,000 trees. Our commitment extends beyond rhetoric, reflecting tangible actions that align with our dedication to environmental stewardship. These initiatives exemplify our unwavering pursuit of sustainability, integrating responsible practices into the core of our operations.

Contributing to the society
Contributing to the society

Agrocrops is dedicated to social responsibility, contributing to local Indian communities by providing free sustenance to 250 individuals weekly. Our support extends to orphans and elderly family members in need of care. Additionally, we offer financial assistance to the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities in India, aiding disabled adults in securing employment and achieving self-sufficiency.

Empowering Water Sustainability
Empowering Water Sustainability

We are advancing sustainable development by implementing a rainwater harvesting and conservation project in a village of 1,500 residents. Recognizing local peanut farmers' challenges due to water scarcity, we've invested INR 3.5 million to construct a three-million-litre water pond. This initiative aims to empower the community, enhance agricultural practices, and ensure a lasting environmental impact, aligning with our commitment to responsible and impactful sustainability practices.

Unicef-Plumpy nut
Unicef-Plumpy nut

Agrocrops proudly supplies premium peanuts to UNICEF's Plumpy'Nut manufacturers around the world. Plumpy'Nut, a peanut-based paste, aids in treating acute malnutrition in children with convenient, at-home administration of this therapeutic formula. This transformative treatment enhances a child's survival prospects within just three weeks. Moreover, 50% of Agrocrops' UNICEF earnings are dedicated to fostering the education of underprivileged students in India, exemplifying our commitment to sustainable social impact.
